Hi Wendy,

that would be Michael de Adder, longtime staff political cartoonist for the
Halifax Chronicle Herald. and he is generally pretty fantastic!

and yes, Bev Oda was indeed the minister at the time Status of Women got

Thanks to Louise Dulude for finding this poignant cartoon drawn at the
time that Harper announced those drastic cuts to Status of Women Canada
funding (am I right that Bev Oda was the minister responsible for women at
the time, December 2006?). The website of CUPW-sisters is no longer active
but can be accessed. The name of the cartoonist is hard to read; is it
deAdter? Does anyone recognize where the name or the image?

It is perfect:  the Status of Women building is represented as a mere
facade, a false front, an edifice without backing. Political satire that
“gets it.”
